Historical Artifacts: Neighbor
I found this in a notepad buried among some old files.
Christians say, "Love thy neighbor." I'd like to believe that, but what's the point? What's the point of saying "love thy neighbor" if you don't? What's the point of believing in "love thy neighbor" if thy neighbor doth not love thee? What's the point of "love thy neighbor" if you don't love every neighbor? Black, white, Hispanic, male, female, intersex, gay, straight, bi, transgender, transsexual, Christian, Catholic, Jewish, atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, Hindi, liberal, conservative, moderate, other. How can you say "love thy neighbor" when, like a good neighbor, State Farm won't care? As Mr. Rogers says, welcome to my neighborhood. Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you?
